Artist Statement

Every flower has a story to tell, a personality. Some are gestural - with limbs that reach for the sun - accented with pops of color. They tell a story of how and where they grew. Some show the cultivator’s hand, perfectly manicured and provided with all of the nutrients they needed. Others are wild and persevered against the odds, less manicured but uniquely beautiful in their own right. Some flowers, like bearded Iris present a world within them as you get closer. Within my personal work, my goal is to present the flower’s natural beauty in a way that reveals their story.

The same concept applies to my commercial work. I strive to reveal the truth of the objects. I am inspired by thoughtful design, and the stories behind the conception of brands and products. My images are both truthful and abstract, yet even when stretching images to a point of abstraction I try to stay grounded in reality. If my images appears distorted it is due to the effect of optics. Reality is interesting enough.
